Appeal for a new organ

ParishPriest/ June 2, 2013/ Parish News/

We have a beautiful church which generations have worked to look after.   We have a great, eco-friendly hall which welcomes many visitors.  Our church attracts people from all over the city and beyond for Masses throughout the week, weddings, and events in the hall.   On holy days of obligation, this church is filled with young people from St Thomas’s School.

In this great space for music, we need a good working pipe organ.   We’re very lucky to have found a great value organ from St John’s Episcopal church in Perth.

Existing parish funds can cover half the costs to buy and install the organ, but we still need to raise £50,000 with your help.   So far we’ve raised 1/5 of what we need.   It’s a good start, but there’s a long way to go.

Throughout the year, we’ll be running a series of musical events to promote the Sacred Heart Catholic community and our musical talent.

There’ll be lots going on until we reach the £50,000 we need to raise.  Please come along to the events listed here as they are confirmed.

If you are able to help organise an event, or would like to donate to our organ fund, please email sacredheart@lauriston.org.uk

Some of the events we have planned so far:

Friday 7 June, 6.30pm – 9pm in the Lauriston Hall
A music evening led by musicians of our parish.

Friday 21 June, 7.00pm in Sacred Heart Church
Famed tenor Martin Aelred will be showcasing his new tour here in the church ‘An Evening in Tuscany’ – to raise funds for the organ.

Sacred Heart is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, a registered Scottish charity no SC008540.
