More than forty parishioners travelled to Dalkeith Country Park on Saturday 17th August for the annual Parish and Family BBQ. Despite the dire weather forecast (which prompted us to bring along an extra shelter!) we enjoyed mostly hot and sunny weather, with just a couple of brief downpours, during which the extra shelter did come in handy! We were treated to a real feast with soup, burgers, chicken drumsticks, salad, sausages – with toasted marshmallows, jelly and ice-cream with and a good cup of tea to finish. And Father Peter brought along a few of the mackerel he had caught on his last fishing trip, which also went down well.
The afternoon was filled with the traditional rounders and French cricket, walks in the park and, for the less energetic, sitting in the sun for a good blether! We all returned home happy and refreshed, and grateful to Louise for once again organising a great feast and a terrific day out!
