Society of St Vincent de Paul

“I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
Gospel of St Matthew 25:40

Our aim is to help anyone in need in our local community through practical assistance, emotional support, advocacy, or financial aid in times of crisis. We run a small year-round Food Bank.

Our parish conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) was started in 1859 and is one of the oldest in Scotland.

The SVP works closely with the Bethany Trust to provide meals for the homeless.

There is a small nucleus of regular SVP volunteers but we always welcome new members. There is no fixed commitment expected – volunteers give what time they can, depending on circumstances.

The SVP relies on the generosity of the people of the parish and is grateful for their financial contributions and donations for our Food Bank.

Our junior section for primary and early secondary school children, the “Mini-Vinnies”, prepares gifts and cards for the elderly and housebound at Christmas and Easter.

We are twinned with a conference in South Africa and provide financial help for their activities.

We can be contacted by leaving a message on 07555 526 980.
